Assistant Catering Supervisor (Nr. Bude)
1. JOB DESCRIPTION
1.1 JOB TITLE Assistant Catering Supervisor – Upper Tamar
1.2 SALARY: £7.40 per hour
1.3 LOCATION: Nr. Bude, Cornwall
1.4 DURATION: Until to October 2016
1.5 HOURS: Up to 40 hours per week (includes some weekends and Bank Holidays)
1.6 RESPONSIBLE TO: Café Supervisor
2. OVERALL PURPOSE
2.1 To be responsible for running the Café and Gift Shop on the supervisors days off. Duties to include the production and service of food and drink to a high standard whilst maintaining levels of hygiene to a degree of excellence, customer service and the retailing of gifts. Maximising sales and cross selling at every opportunity. On occasions to supervise other staff.
3. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 To assist the supervisor in the running an efficient catering establishment and gift outlet and take charge in the absence of the supervisor.
3.2 To be responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service and ensuring that all staff and the café/gift shop meet the same standards.
3.3 Basic food preparation and service of food and drinks to a high standard, whilst keeping good recognised safety and hygiene standards and following relevant health and safety procedures.
3.4 On the supervisors’ days off, manage staff and order stock from approved suppliers as required.
3.5 Ensuring that portion control and wastage are closely controlled in line with agreed standards.
3.6 General cafe duties
3.7 Supervise other staff that may be on duty and ensure they are working to required standards.
3.8 Assist in the maintenance and cleaning, to the highest standards, of all equipment and facilities.
3.9 Place orders with approved catering suppliers when necessary.
3.10 Maximise sale through up-selling and actively promoting goods to customers
3.11 To act as a key holder when on duty and be responsible for security of the premises in the absence of the Café Supervisor.
3.12 Handle money in accordance with Trust procedures.
3.13 Promotion of the all the Trusts activities, including the Friends of the Trust scheme and assisting with maximising car parking income. Dealing effectively with enquiries from the general public.
3.14 Work closely with site staff in other disciplines to cross promote activities.
3.15 Undertake training and development as required by the Trust
3.16 Be accountable to the Trust for the Health and Safety of the customers, yourself and your colleagues. Complete accident reports as and when applicable.
3.17 Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Trust.
4. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
4.1 Proven experience in food preparation and cooking.
4.2 Experience in supervising staff.
4.3 Previous experience of dealing with suppliers, ordering stock and stocktaking
4.4 Experience of retail.
4.5 Smart personal appearance and professional image.
4.6 Ability to work under own direction when necessary
4.7 Good customer service skills and an enthusiasm for working with the general public
4.8 Qualification to a minimum of Level II Food Hygiene or similar.
4.9 Intermediate Food Hygiene (Level III) qualification or equivalent
Due to the location, transport is preferred so you can get to the venue.
